family day

February 1st, 2010

Saturday was spent with the kids as we headed to the yearly family day organized by my kid’s school.  We barely made it last year.  So I made sure that this year we would not be late and that we would be joining and participating in all the activities as much as we can.  And true enough, we were the first ones to arrive.  And guess what, our team (TEAM ORANGE) won first place.  My kid and I even won two separate games which really boosted our overall performance.  It was such a fun event that we vow to join next year’s family day again.

it’s a lazy day

January 24th, 2010

It’s so nice to just stay home and do nothing. We had plans of going out of town and sitting by the pool all day but we’re all feeling a bit tired and sleepy. My father threw a party last night and we all had chores to do and it was not easy preparing food for 50 guests or more. I got my first headache and itchy throat after two or three months of good health. We must have gone home around 3am and practically slept all morning.

I think I need a new bed. I kept tossing and turning this morning. I was asleep but I also knew that I was half awake. It was just so weird. I need to check some beds for sale this week. I can’t afford not to sleep well. I have so many things to take care of up until my birthday next month. I’m actually very excited about the events coming up next month. My little girl will have her first out-of-town field trip and first public performance. Meanwhile my son, who’s turning 20 this year, now have plans of getting a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. His mind changes all the time. Anyway, we’ll see what his mind comes up with next month. That’s all for now. Enjoy what’s left of the weekend. I know I’ll sleep through it. =)

busy week

January 22nd, 2010

It was a busy week for me and it looks as if it’s not about to change. I’m going to work on a project this weekend apart from organizing my dad’s birthday party this Saturday. I don’t even want to know the ton of work lined up for next week. One at a time. That’s the trick. Just focus on one task till you finish it. I’m actually no good when it comes to multi-tasking. When I do this, the results are almost always half-baked. Anyway, I will leave in an hour to to have business cards printed for my sister. It would have been an easy thing to do but she asked specifically for cheap business cards. Where am I going to get those in an instant? It’s a good thing there are online sites that do that. So I might not even leave the house this morning.  I came across PrintsMadeEasy.com.  just now and it’s a good thing the site offers priority shipping.  I could send those business cards straight to my sister’s home.  I’m liking this day.  I get things done without leaving the house.  It saves on gas and parking fees.  Great!  I might even get a few hours of sleep before I pick up my kid from school.

weekender: fly

January 17th, 2010

fly

How nice it would be to just take off and fly to some exotic destination.  Where would you go?  I know I would hit the beach the instant I have a chance.  Happy weekend!

Happy New Year

December 31st, 2009

lights-new-yearI stopped making New Year’s resolutions a few years ago after making too many unfulfilled promises and goals to myself and feeling bad about it. I’m not knocking them if you’re a fan and have tried to do your resolutions all year long, I’m just no good with such a big weight on my shoulders. Well, my New Year’s resolutions are no biggie (I’ll lose 50 lbs and be a waif for once in my life or I’ll single-handedly be responsible for world peace), but I can’t seem to do them. =)

Right now, I promise to instead of resolve something major, I would try to make smaller life decisions that are part of my daily existence. I plan to eat one salad a day, drink more water, keep in touch with people who matter, stick to one cigarette a week, and clean up as I go. And of course, avoid the laundry from overflowing. Easy enough to do because I know they’re all possible without too much trouble. What are your goals for 2010?

summit ridge

November 22nd, 2009

We’re in Tagaytay now and I’m taking advantage of the free wi-fi in the lobby of this new hotel, Summit Ridge.  We haven’t checked in.  We can only check in after lunch since no room is available yet.  The hotel is fully booked perhaps due to the November promo.  The room rate is 50% off the whole month.  By the way, I’m coming back here next week to take advantage of the promo and the long weekend.  Good thing there was one last room available when I inquired awhile ago.  I guess it was really meant for me.

Till next post…I will tell you all bout our experience sleeping in our ancestral house in Batangas.  It was terrible.  =(

weekender: relationships

November 13th, 2009

“Relationships are hard.

It’s like a full time job,

and we should treat it like one.

If your boyfriend or girlfriend wants to leave you,

they should give you two week’s notice.

There should be severance pay,

and before they leave you,

they should have to find you a temp.”

It’s the weekend again. It’s a rainy weekend actually. I don’t know why it always rains on a weekend. It seems that God does not want us to go out and enjoy the outdoors. So what do you do when you’re inside and rain is pouring? I make soup or read a book and to tell you honestly, I have a stack of books waiting to be given attention. So this might be the weekend that they get my always divided attention.

caribbean holidays in cuba

October 30th, 2009

cubabeachcaribbean holidays in cuba

I think I want a vacation.  What about caribbean holidays in cuba? Who wouldn’t want that? That’s what I call “the perfect vacation.” Cuba is one of the most beautiful islands in the world.  Why do you think Ernest Hemingway spent many years of his life here?  It has a rich culture, great architecture, interesting people and most of all, there’s the sea.  I love the waters and I would choose to spend the rest of my life near the sea.  I love the laid back lifestyle of this country.  I’m fascinated by the way it seems to be trapped in a bygone era.

So when you ask me if I want one of those

caribbean holidays in cuba,

I would answer yes without batting an eyelash.

If I could stay there forever, it’s even better.  I would learn to speak Spanish with a Cuban accent.   I would listen to Cuban songs and even dance to their upbeat tunes.  I would practice smoking the Cuban cigar which is the best in the world.  I think I would be at home there.  When can I go?  I hope it would happen this year.  Again, who wouldn’t want one of those caribbean holidays in cuba?
