My mom is turning 60 this December. My sister and I are planning to produce a short movie or feature that would have all her siblings, relatives and her loved ones give short meaningful messages. It’s a tough task especially for me who is in charge of going from one relative to the next to record their messages. I haven’t started yet. I have to call and inform each one about the plan and I’m not even sure if everyone would be agreeable. There are even relatives in the province that I have to visit for this. If only they know how to use the technology of the internet and post their messages in social networking sites so it would be easier for me. But unfortunately, they are as low-tech as they come. Aside from that, I have to find the perfect gift for her 60th birthday. I t should be something special and should be something that she likes. The last time I spoke to my mom, she wanted this branded esq watch. It’s a bit expensive but I know that would make her happy. We want this event to be truly memorable for her. So I guess she’d be getting that watch and a ton of best wishes on her 60th year here on Earth.

Another thing that excites me about Christmas is the Christmas eve dinner. And this year, it was decided that dinner would be in my home. My father and my siblings and their family are coming over and I would be in charge of the food. Now, that’s a huge responsibility because this event is centered around food on the table. Of course, the only other thing that competes with food are the Christmas gifts. So I would need all the help I can get. I need the best kitchen gadgets and utensils like my soup bowl sets and Corelle Dinnerware Sets. Yep, it’s that time of the year where these utensils are put to good use. So as early as now, I would be planning what to serve on Christmas dinner.

Getting married nowadays is better compared to 10 years ago. Aside from the many talented wedding designers like Vera Wang and Monique Lhullier, there are also so many unique wedding party favors to choose from. I found this site that carries mint tins, candles and whisks in cute packaging. They’re also very affordable and depending on the volume of your orders, you could even get a huge discount.

A friend of mine is organizing a baby shower for her sister-in-law who is giving birth to her first child this October. It should be exciting. I know how it feels because I had organized quite a few for friends and one for my sister in the past. Of course, if you organize baby showers or any type of party for that matter, it should start with the guest list and the budget. It was a good thing that almost all the baby showers I organized, I didn’t have to worry one bit about the budget. Someone almost always offers something. Venue was never a problem for me. Even the food since everyone always agreed to do potlucks. Attendance was also never a problem because everyone wanted to attend baby showers. Don’t ask me why. Anyway, the only problem I encountered was what baby shower favors to give. I would always spend days and days finding that perfect shower favor. In my time, baby shower favors were limited. They were limited and lacked imagination. So I had to go looking everywhere else except party favors shop. Party organizers have it easy now. There is a wide array of choices and unique ones at that. Like the one I found recently and suggested to my friend. I told her to check out BellissimoFavors.com for any type of unique party favors including baby and bridal showers. They practically carry it all. I’m sure my friend would have a blast picking out the best one for the shower.

June is the wedding month and I remember I had a couple of friends who got married in the month of June last year. I also got married in the month of June. Wedding is a joyous occasion but the planning is the hardest part. The lovelier the wedding, the more time and planning should be put into it. Anyway, there are plenty of things a marrying couple should take care of when planning a wedding and sometimes it gets really overwhelming. Luckily, there are wedding chat rooms that one can join to unload some of the stresses of wedding planning. And you might get a couple or more wedding ideas from the people there.

…and I”m having a hard time getting motivated this morning. I slept late because I had a terrible throbbing headache last night and falling asleep was such a chore. I downed two pain relievers which I think was the reason I woke up at 4am suffering from stomach acids. So I’m changing our morning routine and beginning an hour later than an already delayed start. Adjusting is always a little painful, considering I have many things planned for today. I think I’ll have to spring for 2 cups of coffee today just to get moving.

My son is not into parties or clubbing. He seldom goes to one and if ever he does, he normally does not stay too long. He’s a good kid. But I’m not saying that those teens who go to parties are bad. If that’s their thing then so be it. So imagine my surprise when my son asked me if he could go to this party next week. It’s his classmate’s birthday and the party will have dancing, a DJ and the works. So I said yes. Besides, it’s not everyday that he goes to one. Now I’m thinking if he needs one of those rave pants that are so “in” with the young nowadays.

My little girl had more Christmas activities than I had these past weeks. She had been busy rehearsing for their Christmas program in school for the past two weeks that it had left us sleeping most of the afternoons. We literally had no energy left for other things. Even shopping. I haven’t really started with my shopping except for the few gifts I had to buy first for MG’s teachers and classmates. And I have only 2 days left to purchase gifts for my nieces, nephews and ‘inaanaks’. The grown-ups won’t be getting any. At least not in time for Christmas that is. I might be able to give them something post-Christmas when money is no longer tight and time is already on my side. This Christmas, it will be the children first.
And remember the speech I had to give during my little girl’s program? Well, I survived it. Thank God, it’s over. I was shaking the whole time. I told the teachers that I won’t be doing any more speeches in this lifetime.
By the way, here are photos from the Christmas party and program.

Little Camp, where my kid regularly undergoes therapy sessions, just had their Christmas party last Sunday and MG had a small but meaningful part. She was in charge of the opening prayer. She only had a week to memorize it. During the program, she missed some words but she was really in her elements that morning. This was the prayer:
Dear God
Thank you for this day.
Please bless us as we celebrate our Christmas party.
May we have lots of fun and
Plenty of food and prizes.
Amen.
And here are some of the photos from the party:
