cousin’s wedding

January 5th, 2010

I’m praying that I save enough money so I can go visit my relatives abroad.  When I say enough, it means enough for two people to travel.  I won’t be traveling alone because I’ll bring MG with me which reminds me that I have to get her a passport and schedule an appointment with the US embassy.  I don’t know how it goes now but I’m hoping the process won’t make me stand in line for hours under the heat of the sun.  Anyway, the trip would be dual purpose since my cousin is also getting married and I want to witness that.  She recently called me to ask if I knew anyone who makes return address labels.   I don’t know where she’s going to use it though. Anyway, I’m really praying that everything would be in my favor this year.  I have so many plans this year.  I would also like to study.  I want a new car.  I want to get fit again.  I want a new set of wardrobe once I lose this stubborn weight.  I want, I want.  And I hope I get them all.  It’s free to want things as far as I know.  The only problem is, how am I going to achieve that?  If I get to choose just one, I would want to visit my relatives abroad and attend my cousin’s wedding.

an addiction

December 20th, 2009

I have an addiction.  It has plagued for far too many years now.  You can’t blame me because I’m a girl.  I can’t help it.  Do you have any idea what it is?  I’m addicted to reading Beauty Articles on the internet and this habit has kept me awake most nights which is not really helpful at all when you want to look fresh and beautiful.  If you’re looking for similar articles, you can find them at a1articles.com but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Dark Chocolate Benefits During Pregnancy

November 24th, 2009

More and more benefits of eating dark chocolate are being discovered. A team headed by Elizabeth Triche of the Yale Center for Perinatal, Pediatric and Environmental Epidemiology found out that chocolate, more specifically dark chocolate, offers protection to pregnant women against pre-eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia affects 3 - 8 per cent of pregnant women. Preeclampsia is a disorder characterized by dangerously high blood pressure and protein in the urine. Symptoms often include swelling, sudden weight gain, headaches and vision problems. Anyway, the study shows women who eat chocolate are at decreased risk of developing preeclampsia. The conclusions are reported in one of the issues of the journal Epidemiology. Improved cardiovascular health is what prompted the team of Elizabeth Triche to experiment with the effects of chocolate on pregnant mothers.

So what does chocolate have that prevents pre-eclampsia? Chocolate contains positive neurotransmitters such as theobromine. During the study, a high concentration of theobromine was found in the cord bloods of pregnant women who consume a good serving of dark chocolate. I wouldn’t be surprised if doctors would soon prescribe dark chocolate for pregnancy. How lucky are those pregnant women.  By the way, pregnant women can take this dark chocolate consumption or prescription thing a step further by purchasing chocolates from IntentionalChocolate.com for optimal health and well-being.

are you sick

November 10th, 2009

A lot of people I know are sick.  They are down with a flu or something.  Sometimes I have second thoughts on going to the mall.  I might catch a cold or something.  MG is fine, though.  She got her flu shot this year. Getting sick makes me want to think about getting United Health One HSA. I think I’m the only person left in this world who has no health insurance.

mesothelioma cancer

November 8th, 2009

What is asbestos and what are the health risks associated with it? Asbestos is a group of minerals that occur naturally as masses of fibers that are then separated and woven. Asbestos is generally used in many industries particularly in ship building, mining and construction. Asbestos exposure over a long period of time may cause asbetosis, lung cancer, cancer of the esophagus or larynx and mesothelioma or mesothelioma cancer. Asbestosis is a chronic lung ailment that can produce rapid shortness of breath while mesothelioma is a rare cancer of the thin membranes lining the chest and abdomen. There are more signs and symptoms of this kind of cancer. This is is just a brief introduction on asbestos and the risk of exposure. Mesothelioma prognosis is no joke. It is hard to detect since symptoms normally occur years after exposure and oftentimes, the person detected with the cancer has barely a year to live or has been affected so much with the cancer. But when detected early, there are medical drugs and assistance that can potentially help in the treatment. Although there is one person, Paul Kraus, who was diagnosed with this cancer and used alternative treatment and medicine to fight the cancer.

Early symptoms of mesothelioma asbestos are the following:

* Shortness of breath
* Pain in the chest or abdomen
* Blood in the coughed up from the lungs
* Difficulty in swallowing or prolonged hoarseness
* Significant weight loss

sunglasses

October 31st, 2009

Today, the number must-have accessory is the sunglasses.  The wrong pair of sunglasses can actually make or break your whole outfit.  So it’s not enough for a woman to only have one good pair, she has to have several that would match any occasion and and her wardrobe.  Sunglasses are like bags and shoes.  You can never have enough.  What I have right now and one that I always use is my Chanel sunglasses.  It was a splurge for me but after putting it to good use many times over, I think it’s one of the best buys I’ve done in years.  But I’m also thinking of getting myself an Oakley pair.  I’m trying to get fit once again and I plan to join a marathon next year.  And my ever reliable Gucci nor my aviators won’t do the job of protecting me from the rays of the sun and the sweat that comes with running in the outdoors.  I might just get an ordinary pair with UV protection.  I don’t know.  But I’m still saving up for that next big sunglasses purchase.  Like I told you, it should match the outfit.  And my big Gucci shades does not match the marathon-like outfit I have in mind.  By the way, I browsed through Shopwiki the other day.  Did you know that Oakley products are never put on sale?  That’s a company policy.

back to fitness

October 29th, 2009

I started running again two weeks ago.  I don’t run in the great outdoors but inside the great gym with a lot of equally sweaty people like me.  I had a hard time the first few days.  I think I must have run for only 20 minutes at a time and felt really exhausted.  I thought I would lose consciousness if I ran longer.  But I found myself running without breaking sweat even after 30 minutes the following week.  And now I’m proud to say that I can run with ease for 45 minutes.  That’s a huge difference compared to when I first started.  Guess what?  I’m getting ready to run on the treadmill but I have to finish some tasks first.
