I’m thinking of creating a Facebook account for my little girl. She has too many photos and I want to keep it in one place and share those with relatives and friends. Flickr only allows you to upload a certain number of photos a month and you have to pay a fee to upgrade. Facebook is free so I might just create one for her. I remember when my friend threw a baby shower for me. It was so last minute so I can understand some of the irregularities that happened during the shower itself. There was a mix up in time. Some of my friends came 2 hours after the shower started. Some were on time and others got the dates mixed up. But all in all, it was fun seeing friends after a long time. Anyway, when it was time to open the gifts, I was so excited. Who wouldn’t be excited receiving lots of gifts and they’re not even for you? When I opened the gifts one by one, many of the items were alike. For instance, I had two baby carriers, 3 of the same toy, two bath tubs different color, and three baby albums of the same design and color. How weird! Who would need two baby carriers unless of course, if I had a twin? But I was pretty sure I had just one baby on my tummy that time. Anyway, it would have been nice if AmazingRegistry.com were present then. But my baby shower happened 19 years ago. Imagine having just one registry but with different stores to choose from. I’m not a fan of big vehicles but I would surely want to drive one someday. My sister actually drives one and everyone seems to be amazed when she emerges from her pick-up all girly and fragile. No one would ever guess that she’s driving a monster pick-up but she likes her ride and would never give it up for a sedan. Not in a million years. She even wanted to put a performance chip so the overall ride is amped. I asked her if she would want to enter any contest or something. She said no.
Yep, that’s my sister. Her choices don’t fit her but that’s what makes her unique. I won’t be surprised if one day her vehicle would have a cat back exhaust or an air intake I keep hearing her talk about. Her husband just scratches her head whenever my sister wants something done with the pick-up. He might be thinking enough already but knowing my sister, she won’t stop until she gets what she wants.
She said adding all these will make her car perform better. She has been checking out RealTruck.com for things she could buy for her precious truck. Anyway, I should probably make some changes or additions to my own car.
I have never done camping. When I was younger, our school would often hold camping activities on the school grounds. I never attended one. It was just not my thing. I was more musically inclined back then and would often lock myself inside my room for hours listening to my favorite bands. Duran Duran was the band I frequently listened to. I had my walls plastered with posters of them as a group. My favorite was Nick Rhodes. Anyway, going back to camping…I wish I tried it sooner. Now that I’m older, it’s so difficult to find time to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It would be nice to go camping, eat outside, be with the people you love the most, just sitting on those outdoor chairs and talking till the wee hours of the night or morning. I know it’s never too late for anyone to do anything and everything except perhaps having a baby at 50. I don’t even know if it’s possible. Yeah, it’s never too late. I might just schedule a camping trip on my birthday or in the summer when the weather is perfect for camping. I’m quite we wouldn’t be rained out.
I am trying not to hyperventillate every time I think what is in store for me this year. This is the year that would make or break me. It’s all happening… Everything and more. And I can’t help but be scared. I’m doing everything for my family now. This is the year that I mature. That I become a parent not only in title but also in deed. I only have two years more before I turn forty. And when I think about it, I panic. I don’t have enough savings. I don’t have a steady job. And I don’t know what I’m doing in so far as finances are concerned. Lord, help me get through all this for my kids.
It’s so nice to just stay home and do nothing. We had plans of going out of town and sitting by the pool all day but we’re all feeling a bit tired and sleepy. My father threw a party last night and we all had chores to do and it was not easy preparing food for 50 guests or more. I got my first headache and itchy throat after two or three months of good health. We must have gone home around 3am and practically slept all morning.
I think I need a new bed. I kept tossing and turning this morning. I was asleep but I also knew that I was half awake. It was just so weird. I need to check some beds for sale this week. I can’t afford not to sleep well. I have so many things to take care of up until my birthday next month. I’m actually very excited about the events coming up next month. My little girl will have her first out-of-town field trip and first public performance. Meanwhile my son, who’s turning 20 this year, now have plans of getting a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. His mind changes all the time. Anyway, we’ll see what his mind comes up with next month. That’s all for now. Enjoy what’s left of the weekend. I know I’ll sleep through it. =)
Every Friday, my kid and I go out to eat and walk for hours inside the mall checking out shops. I totally enjoy this time with my kid and I can safely say that she enjoys it too. But have you tried going out with just enough cash for lunch and nothing else? We did that yesterday. I had to buy prescription eyeglasses for my son last week who has been complaining of blurred visions for many weeks. I accompanied him to an eye doctor and the verdict was Astigmatism. So we had glasses made and he got it last Thursday. I must have spent around $150 for the whole thing. Anyway, I should have gotten his pair at Zenni’s. I don’t even know why I never thought of it in the first place. The doctor that we went to had a whole set of eyeglasses to choose from that it felt like we had to buy from him. I should have said no. I should have done what Eric Hammer did. In his article, he tells us that he has been going to Zenni for the past eight years. Yes, he goes to his optometrist but he directly goes to Zenni to have his pair made. That’s what I should do. Anyway, there’s still a next time.
People think that as a mother, I know it all. That’s where they’re mistaken. I don’t know everything and oftentimes, I turn to books and other sources and resources for help and understanding especially when the subject matter is about Baby and child. For instance, my little girl suddenly developed a rash two weeks ago. I got alarmed because it was not the regular rash most kids get. So I turned to BabiesBase.com for information and I found it. It felt great to get back to regular blogging this week after almost a month of haphazard posts. Thanks for waiting out the laziness and the holidays with me!
You may have noticed the lack of posts over the past week. one sizeable change here over the past week. Anyway, after ten years of no decent vacation, I finally had one last Christmas. Now it’s time to take things in a fresher direction and perspective. I think I’ve had enough rest and it’s now back to regular programming. But the weird thing is I’m now tempted to look at cheap flights online. I want another island vacation. . One that is decidedly more relaxed and longer. So stay tuned to see if I take another vacation. I promise to try not to disappoint with a lack of posts again.
Or if I can wait, I want to have another vacation this summer. But I will be booking for a flight as early as now. From my experience, booking early would guarantee sure seats. Not only that, when you book early, you have more choices.
Anyway, I think I deserve another vacation. I’ve been working hard and a vacation near the ocean is my reward to myself. I wish the whole family would join me just like last Christmas.
My sister has this ritual. You know how everyone wants to start anew at the beginning of the new year. We make new year’s resolutions that we try to keep for as long as we can. We reconnect with friends and relatives we have lost touch with. We clean the house. We clean our closets. Throw out the old ones that don’t fit and keep the ones that almost fit. Well, that’s all good, right? Even though we all know that we would go back to our old ways once we encounter real life again. That’s alright, too. That’s just how it is. It’s a vicious cycle but a cycle nonetheless.
Anyway, my sister is the same but quite different. That’s confusing, I know. She also wants to start anew but it extends to everything she does and she has. She wants a new car, a new hairdo, new cell phone. She wants new everything. If houses were not so expensive, she would be buying a new house every year. Of course, she also wants a new batch of totally revamped and redesigned business cards. I told her she could have business cards online. She can even choose from a wide range of styles and templates so she can have a fresh batch when she gets tired of the old ones. I don’t know what else she wants. Does she want a new husband? Oh yes!
