It’s back to work for most of us. After almost a week of merriment, it’s now back to reality. It’s back to the grind. It’s especially true for my sister who seems to be working harder than usual. Just today she called me several times if I know anyone or any company that carries promotional products. She needs it for one of her clients who is running for office this election. Promotional products such as pens, calendars, mugs, t-shirts and even key tags are in demand during election period. Politicians give these items away to their constituents so they can be heard and known. These items are great marketing tools whether you run a business or you run a county or country.
Going back to my sister, she’s also looking for laptop and desktop suppliers. I have a friend who has a computer store and I might set up a meeting so both of them could meet and discuss details. It’’s only the first working day of the year and yet, my sister is working as if she’s not going to meet her deadline. Another year, another chance. I recently watched a show wherein the host,who is a financial guru, gives advice to her televiewers. One segment of the show is a question and answer portion. The caller asks for advice regarding something that he wants to purchase. The thing is, the host tries to analyze the caller’s financial situation by looking into his savings, retirement savings, salary, mortgage etcetera. After careful analysis, she then gives her verdict. To buy or not to buy. What got my attention is that most of the callers have enough money in the bank, have stable jobs and can quite afford a splurge once in awhile but the “guru” advised most of them against going ahead with the purchase. The supposed purchases range from an electric guitar to a Alaskan cruise. Anyway, I got scared since I don’t have enough money in the bank, I don’t have a stable job, I’m middle aged yet I shop and spend for unnecessary things. At the rate I’m going, I’ll be broke in a month. I should rethink my financial situation and make adjustments before it’s too late. I should probably look into certificate of deposits. I heard that such deposits earn higher interests. That would be a good start.

We got back from Boracay two weeks ago and we’re already planning our next trip to the island this year. It was a memorable one for us. It was the first time after a long, long time that everyone was present for Christmas dinner. Even my sister who had a misunderstanding with my dad was present for this once in a lifetime event. But they’ve actually kissed and made up even before the trip.
So offices and businesses were close during the holidays and that included my brother’s car shop. Yes, he closed his shop to join us. He rarely gets a vacation. Having a full time business is more stressful than being employed. But it has more perks and advantages. You could potentially earn more if you have a sound business plan. I’m a stay at home mom. I take care of my kids 24/7. I prepare their meals, help my little girl with her assignment and I drive them wherever they need to go.
