play bingo

February 26th, 2010

One of my auntie’s favorite past time is to go to the mall and play bingo.  She would normally spend hours a day there.  I think it’s not about the winning, it’s more on passing the time doing something enjoyable rather than doing nothing at all.  Sometimes she would lose, but there are more instances she’d win.  And when she does win, she would treat all of us to dinner or lunch.  So I really do think that it’s not about the money.  She enjoys the game and the winning part is just a reward.  Recently, I came across free bingo online. I don’t know if she’ll love the concept of this free bingo wherein you do not only win big and exciting prizes but get to meet a lot of interesting people from all over the globe.  Unlike with a regular bingo in the mall, you just play all by yourself without really socializing.  This free bingo is actually more fun and interactive.  They even have a unique bingo card.  Just look below:

bingoYou can interact with other players through its chat room.  There is also this thing called Golden ticket that everyone is aiming to get and win.  Anyway, I would suggest to my aunt and I might join this “community” as well.

february

February 19th, 2010

I think I’ve received about 2 wedding invitations this month from a relative and one from a friend. Who says June is the wedding month? I think February is not the love month for nothing and most couples decide to get hitched during this month. Why? Well, for one the weather is perfect for garden weddings and receptions. There are less chances that your most important event as a couple would be rained out. And second, it’s just more romantic. I would choose February or December to get married and not June. But guess what? I got married in June.

Anyway, the wedding invitations I got are quite different. My relative chose to go for the more convenient but nevertheless beautiful digital wedding invitations. Hers was so colorful. The couple decided to incorporate the motif of the wedding into the invitations and it worked out well. My friend, on the other hand, went for old-fashioned letterpress wedding invitations that are making a comeback. The invitations were so dainty and they seemed to come straight from another era. I think couples would soon catch up with this trend.  I don’t know if they are more expensive but wedding is a once in a lifetime thing.

really amazing

February 15th, 2010

I remember when my friend threw a baby shower for me. It was so last minute so I can understand some of the irregularities that happened during the shower itself. There was a mix up in time. Some of my friends came 2 hours after the shower started. Some were on time and others got the dates mixed up. But all in all, it was fun seeing friends after a long time. Anyway, when it was time to open the gifts, I was so excited. Who wouldn’t be excited receiving lots of gifts and they’re not even for you? When I opened the gifts one by one, many of the items were alike. For instance, I had two baby carriers, 3 of the same toy, two bath tubs different color, and three baby albums of the same design and color. How weird! Who would need two baby carriers unless of course, if I had a twin? But I was pretty sure I had just one baby on my tummy that time. Anyway, it would have been nice if AmazingRegistry.com were present then. But my baby shower happened 19 years ago. Imagine having just one registry but with different stores to choose from. Look at all the stores included in the The best baby registry ever. There is BabiesRus. There’s also Amazon even Pottery Barn and babyearth. Imagine combining all these registries into one convenient registry and the best part is you get all the benefits these stores offer no matter what. It’s really amazing. You get to choose what you need without the fear of having double or even triple gifts. Mommies today would really have a blast using this service.

slow but sure

February 8th, 2010

Slow but sure applies to everything else in life particularly to planning someone’s future, investing and financial matters. But when it comes to internet connection, that idea should go down the drain.  Internet connection should be fast and reliable. Well, my present internet connection belongs in the former and it sucks most of the time. I couldn’t even download movies for it will take days to download. It would be better to head off to the video store and rent the damn disc or buy the movie disc itself. Imagine if I had broadband satellite internet, I would have saved enough cash to buy me a new television. Instead I’m still buying DVDs when I could just download those movies. But my crappy internet connection won’t let me. I’m just waiting for the lock-in period to expire before I switch to something better and faster. I mean, I live in the city where all the conveniences of city living are within my reach. But with my slow internet connection, it looks as if I’m living in somewhere remote and rural that clean drinking water is not even an option. I think those people living in rural areas are far better off because of the broadband satellite internet connection MyBlueDish.com. offers.

pick-ups and trucks

February 5th, 2010

I’m not a fan of big vehicles but I would surely want to drive one someday. My sister actually drives one and everyone seems to be amazed when she emerges from her pick-up all girly and fragile. No one would ever guess that she’s driving a monster pick-up but she likes her ride and would never give it up for a sedan. Not in a million years. She even wanted to put a performance chip so the overall ride is amped. I asked her if she would want to enter any contest or something. She said no.

Yep, that’s my sister. Her choices don’t fit her but that’s what makes her unique. I won’t be surprised if one day her vehicle would have a cat back exhaust or an air intake I keep hearing her talk about.  Her husband just scratches her head whenever my sister wants something done with the pick-up.  He might be thinking enough already but knowing my sister, she won’t stop until she gets what she wants.

She said adding all these will make her car perform better.  She has been checking out RealTruck.com for things she could buy for her precious truck.  Anyway, I should probably make some changes or additions to my own car.

real estate tax benefit

February 5th, 2010

Perhaps you know this feeling of finally owning your own home for the first time. It’s one good feeling everyone should hope to achieve. No more rent payment, no more rude landlord or landlady, no more ceiling with molds and no more appliances that don’t work. Imagine that. But since the economic downturn, the dream of owning our own home seems a bit more out of reach. Even with the price reduction of most homes all over the country, people are still not buying. They’re even selling their own homes for fear of foreclosure. I don’t even know where it all started. I mean, I knew it was happening but I didn’t want to accept it.

But there is still hope for first-time home buyers. With Real Estate Tax Benefit where anyone who has not owned a home for the three years, can finally own a home and receive up to $ 8,000 tax credit. That’s big money but anyone wishing to purchase his or her home should act now since the tax credit won’t be there for long. You only have until end of April to avail it.

So that’s really great news for first time home buyers. I’m quite sure you’ll experience what I experienced the first time I entered my very own home. It was superb. For more details on the tax credit, watch this video.

green police

February 3rd, 2010

The earth could no longer wait for people to do something about global warming and other environmental issues.  Mother earth is already making us feel the effects of our wrong doing with harsher climate changes, drought in some parts of the world, more destructive storms and earthquakes and food shortage.  It’s scary.  It’s a good thing there is the Green Police to help more people become aware of the need to do something about the environment.  This year the Green Police will help organizers of the Glastonbury Festival create a cleaner and greener festival.  So watch out for it!

talk about moving

February 2nd, 2010

About moving, quite a few people were asking me last week if I knew of Moving Companies Los Angeles. I’m not really from Los Angeles although my sister and her family have lived there for 20 years now  So when I asked her if she of any Moving Company Los Angeles, she immediately said no.  That’s because my sister has not experienced moving since then.  She has lived in the very same home she’s occupying now.  Lucky for her because it’s a back-breaking, tedious task to and transfer all your things from one house to another.  Imagine the packing and unpacking, hauling, cleaning and all the other things associated with moving.  They require patience and a good, flexible spine to be able to do all that.

Anyway, I knew of one company in Los Angeles who is an expert in moving.  They are one of the first Los Angeles Moving Companies to establish a name for themselves in the business of moving and transfer. Melrose Moving offers superb customer service, free estimates, and professional packing. The company has experienced, professionally trained movers who operate using clean trucks with liftgate & ramp. You can even call them for last minute moving, they would surely accommodate you.

work smarter, not harder

February 1st, 2010

Sales people just don’t get it. I know it’s a tough job to sell especially something that you can’t even physically hold on to. For instance, insurance and educational plans. You just hold on to a paper or a contract or receipt. I don’t want to be in the position of health insurance broker. I don’t even know if I can find one good prospect to sell an insurance to.

It would a very tough transition for me from selling advertising spaces and writing service to selling health insurance. But one friend of mine is so great at his job. I did not expect him to buy a brand new car in a year working as an agent but he just did, a few weeks ago. I guess I’m by far the only one who’s not looking for a positive environment.

So what’s his secret? Reliable health insurance leads. With so many agents around, getting quality leads is important. Like he said, “you don’t want to work harder, just smarter.” And I believe him. Agents simply do not do well directly competing against other agents and it’s largely a failed concept. If it means hunting people down day after day week after week so they can land 1 out of 15, to me that is not “working.” I guess looking for quality leads instead of quantity leads is more effective.

family day

February 1st, 2010

Saturday was spent with the kids as we headed to the yearly family day organized by my kid’s school.  We barely made it last year.  So I made sure that this year we would not be late and that we would be joining and participating in all the activities as much as we can.  And true enough, we were the first ones to arrive.  And guess what, our team (TEAM ORANGE) won first place.  My kid and I even won two separate games which really boosted our overall performance.  It was such a fun event that we vow to join next year’s family day again.
